My name is Jackie Braden. I live in Northern Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati Ohio, where I grew up. I've had a life-long love of  drawing and painting and have  shown my work professionally for over 25 years. In 2010  I closed my studio, due to the economic downturn, and enrolled in the University of Cincinnati Fine Arts program. It was fun going to school after retirement. I had the opportunity to study under some incredible teachers as well as learn new media such as Sequential Art , Ceramics and Printmaking. I graduated with a BFA in 2014. While at school my painting interests changed from experimental Abstracts and figurative drawings to painting from life with a keen interest in the interplay of light and form. I currently paint with oils but also enjoy water media, various drawing media as well as collage.  I paint from life whether painting Still Life set-ups or outdoors. I am most interested in capturing a moment in time through memory or close observation of the subject. The quiet contemplation of everyday objects and my surroundings is like a meditation that keeps me grateful and appreciative of the beauty that surrounds me.  I consider a painting successful when it evokes a mood or sense of familiarity with the viewer.
